They be extremely young as far as experience goes but the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs have played really well to start the season.
WO-S continued its winning ways Thursday afternoon by defeating Beaumont Kelly 7-3 at the Lady Mustang Softball Tournament Thursday.
Mallory Jackson got the win on the hill for the Lady Mustangs (9-1) as she scattered three hits while striking out four while walking two.
The Lady Mustangs got all the runs they needed in the first inning, scoring four.
With one out, Marlaysia Davis slapped a shallow single to center off Kelly starter Hannah Selmon.
Madison Neal and Aaliyah Teel drew back-to-back walks. Markia Davis laced an infield single that plated her sister Marlaysia and Neal was able to dart in as well after an error.
Elecia Barlow promptly made it 4-0 when she belted a two-run double to right-centerfield.
WO-S scored a run in the bottom of the second as Neal reached on a two-out error and scored after Teel reached on an error.
Kelly scored all three of its runs in the top of the third.
Adelle Green, who was 2-for-2 had a single to center after Selmon drew a walk.
Kindale Troquile then slapped a two-run double to leftfield and Ellen Lane had a RBI single to shallow center.
WO-S added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Neal doubled to center and Teel crushed an inside-the-park home run to deep centerfield.
The Lady Mustangs finished with eight hits with Markia Davis and Jackson getting two apiece.
