BC bats explode in Rockdale

ROCKDALE — The Bridge City Cardinals captured three wins, lost one and tied one at the Rockdale Tournament last weekend.

On Thursday, the Cardinals tied Salado 5-5 and fell to Rockdale 8-4.

Then the Redbird bats exploded the rest of the way.

The Cardinals pounded Waco Connally 12-0.

Blaine Huff had a triple and three runs batted in. Sage Elmore had a pair of hits and drove in three runs. Chase Shugart had a double and plated a run while Keaton Langston had a RBI single.

The Cardinals also flattended Mexia 11-0.

Hunter Uzzle roped a two-run home run and also had a two-run double. Elmore had a two-run single while Langston roped a RBI double and Blaine Huff had a RBI single.

Trailing Cameron Yoe 5-3 going into the seventh inning on Saturday, the Cardinals erupted for 10 runs in the seventh to notch a 13-5 victory.

Bergeron and Blake Prueitt each had a pair of RBI singles. Shugart laced a two-run single while Uzzle and Langston contributed a double apiece.

In other tournament action the WO-S Mustangs found success in the Sunnyvale Tournament.

WO-S defeated Mildred 12-1; tied Colleyville Cove 3-3 and downed Bullard 5-4.

At the Longview Pine Tree Tournament, LC-M fell to Kilgore 4-0 and lost to Spring Hill 9-2.
