Lady Mustangs rolling into own tourney

WEST ORANGE — One thing for certain, the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs and first-year head softball coach Shannon Talbot have some momentum going into their Lady Mustang Tournament starting Thursday at Lady Mustang Field.

The Lady Mustangs (8-1) are coming off five straight victories at the Jasper Tournament this past weekend.

WO-S defeated Port Arthur Memorial 16-1.

Mallory Jackson earned the win on the hill and had three strikeouts.

Eianna Mims went 2-for-2 and drove in a run while Aaliyah Teel was 1-for-2 with three RBI.

The Lady Mustangs whipped Newton 17-0 as Jackson struck out three in pitching a perfect game.

Alicia Barlow was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs while Markia Davis was 2-for-3, including a double and five RBI.

WO-S downed Hardin 12-6.

Jackson got the win on the mound and Mims was 2-for-2 with two RBI.

WO-S dropped Burkeville 13-5.

Jara Edwards and Mims split time on the mound. Teel was 2-for-2 at the plate with a RBI.

WO-S ended the tourney with a 6-4 victory over Beaumont Ozen.

Jackson and Madison Neal teamed up for the victory on the mound.

Edwards was 2-for-3 with a RBI and Mar’laysia Davis was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.

Games at the Lady Mustang Softball Tournament Thursday includes Anahuac vs. East Chambers ( 9 a.m.); Hardin vs. Hamshire-Fannett (10:30 a.m.); Hamshire-Fannett vs. Anahuac (noon); Hardin vs. East Chambers (1:30 p.m.); Deweyville vs. WO-S (3 p.m.); Beaumont Kelly vs. Hardin-Jefferson (4:30 p.m.); Kelly vs. WO-S (6 p.m.); and Deweyville vs. Hardin-Jefferson (7:30 p.m.).

Games Friday will include Hardin vs. Kelly (9 a.m.); East Chambers vs. WO-S (10:30 a.m.); Hardin vs. WO-S (noon); East Chambers vs. Kelly (1:30 p.m.); Hamshire-Fannett vs. Deweyville (3 p.m.); Anahuac vs. Hardin-Jefferson (4:30 p.m.); Anahuac vs. Deweyville (6 p.m.); and Hardin-Jefferson vs. Hamshire-Fannett (7:30 p.m.).
