BC, OF girls dominate lifting meets

ORANGE — The Bridge City and Orangefield powerlifting teams had a great deal of success at meets.

Bridge City hosted a Quad Meet on Thursday.

Yesterday Bridge City High School hosted  a Quad Meet for the girls.

Junior Jacey Walker lifted a total weight of 605 pounds and placed first in her weight class.  Walker also received the honor of best lifter for the light weight division.  She had best all-around squat, bench and dead lift.

Sophomore Jimi Kern placed fifth in weight class with a total weight of 470 pounds. Freshman Audrey LeBlanc placed fifth in her weight class with a total weight of 525 pounds.

Sophomore Sarah Sams placed first in her weight class, lifting a total weight of 665 pounds.

Freshman Carlee Dearing placed second in her weight class, lifting a total weight of 610 pounds. Junior Rikki Bodin placed third in her weight class, with a total weight of 650 pounds.

Freshman Sam Hargrave placed fourth in her weight class lifting a total weight of 580 pounds. Sophomore Emily Warren placed second in her weight class, lifting a total weight of 785 pounds.  Warren also received the third best lifter honor, with third over-all best lifts in squat, bench and dead lift.

All of the ladies are currently qualified for the Regional Meet for Region 4 Division 2.  This meet will take place in Palacios on February 26.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats won first-place in the 2014 LCM Bear Invitational Powerlifting Meet held Thursday. 

Finishing first in the 132 weight class was Madelyn Hamilton with a total lift of 550 pounds.  In the 148-pound class, Skylar Hammons finished first with a total lift of 560 pounds.

Other top three finishers were: Britton Edgerly, who was thirdin the 123’s; Heather Stout, second in the 148’s; Kathleen Lozano, third in the 148’s; Julia Droll, third in the 165’s; Breana Norton, second in the 181’s, and Katlin Gordon, second in the 198’s. 

On the boy’s side Wesley Reed finished first in the 123-pound class with a total lift of 720 pounds. 

Derek Lopez was first in the 220-pound class with a total lift of 1,245 pounds.  Jake Bradley also finished first in the 275-pound class with a total lift of 1,040 pounds.  Other top boy lifters were: Cameron Guillot, thirdin the 148’s; Jacob Harrison, third in the 220’s; and Adam Jacobs, second in the 242’s.
