HOOP WRAP: Lady Cardinals crush Silsbee

ORANGE — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals are just a win away from a magical 30-win season adter they rumbled past the Silsbee Lady Tigers 66-38 at Cardinal Gym Monday night.

The Lady Cardinals (29-4, 9-1) will not only be looking for their 30th victory this Friday, they will have a chance to pull into a tie for first-place in the 21-3A stadings with Hamshire-Fannett as they travel to face the first-place Lady Longhorns.

Bridge City had no problems dismantling last-place Silsbee (1-9 in district) Monday as the Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 18-6 cushion at the end of the first period and increased the big lead to 39-15 at the half.

Guard Bailee Bacon had an all-around superb game for the Lady Cardinals as she led the way with 22 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds.

Post Kelsey Fults chimed in with a double-double, scoring 10 points while snagging 10 boards.

Shayla Bratton came off the bench to tally 11 points and she also added six boards. Alexus Henry had eight points. Point guard Caylin Chaote had six points and five rebounds while Harleigh Myers had five points and Kasey Frederick had four.

Eranisha Cormenar led the Lady Tiger attack with 13 points and seven rebounds while post Camry Martin added a double-double, scoring 11 points while ripping down a game-high 16 boards.

The Lady Cardinals finished with a 48-35 rebounding edge. Bridge City forced the Lady Tigers into 31 turnovers. Bridge City finished with 18 turnovers and went just 6-of-15 from the free-throw line. Silsbee was even worse, going just 6-of-23 from the charity stripe.

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats snagged an impressive 49-39 District 21-3A victory over Hardin-Jefferson Monday night at Bobcat Gym.

The Lady Bobcats (9-17, 3-8) broke it open in the third quarter with a 7-0 run after leading 22-18 at the half.

Emilee Adrio led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Brandy Ehrlich contributed 10 points and added four steals. Morgan Worthy contributed nine points and eight rebounds while Priscilla Garza yanked down 10 rebounds.

Broussard led Hardin-Jefferson with 27 points.

The Lady Bobcats will visit West Orange-Stark Friday.
