The weather across Southeast Texas Friday, put a “freeze” on most high school basketball games as many games will be played Saturday.
On the boys side, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears (17-10, 6-2) currently in a three-way tie for second-place with Beaumont Central (20-4, 6-2) and Beaumont Ozen (20-5, 6-2) and just a game back of first-place Nederland (18-6, 7-1), will play host to the Port Neches-Groves Indians (6-19, 3-5) at 2 p.m. at The Bear Cave Saturday.
The Vidor Pirates (8-15, 1-7) will visit Ozen Saturday at noon.
Nederland will now host Livingston (5-21, 0-8) Monday at 6 p.m.
In District 21-3A play, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs (20-7, 7-0) will take on third-place Hardin-Jefferson (25-4, 4-3) Saturday with the freshmen starting at 3 p.m. followed by the JV with the varsity starting around 5:30 p.m.
Also in 21-3A play Saturday, the Orangefield Bobcats (13-10, 2-5), in a current three-way tie with Buna (13-14, 2-5) and Hamshire-Fannett (8-17, 2-5) will host Hamshire-Fannett Saturday at 2 p.m. The Silsbee Tigers (18-8, 6-1), currently in second-place, will visit Buna Saturday at 1 p.m.
On the girls side of the ledge, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears (18-12, 7-3), currently in third-place in the 20-4A standings, will venture to Nederland Saturday to take on the Lady Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
The Orangefield Lady Bobcats (8-18, 2-7) will travel to Hamshire-Fannett Saturday to face the first-place Lady Longhorns in 21-3A play.
Boys games Tuesday will feature Nederland at LC-M along with Orangefield at Hardin-Jefferson and Bridge City at SIlsbee.
Girls games Tuesday will have LC-M at Nederland along with Hardin-Jefferson at Orangefield and Silsbee at Bridge City.
