BOYS HOOP WRAP: Cardinals edge Buna by one

BRIDGE CITY — Shaking off a slugggish start, the Bridge City Cardinals captured their first 21-3A win by defeating the Buna Cougars 53-52 at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

The Cardinals (12-14, 1-6) rallied all the way back from a 20-2 deficit to start the game to turn back the Cougars (13-14, 2-5).

BC got to within 26-20 at the half and closed the fourth period with a 24-16 spurt.

Post Alex Bingham led the way with 18 points. Malcolm Busby scored all 10 of his points in the final period. Graydon Glover, Ryan Mirabella and Byron Bacon all chipped in with seven points each.

The Cardinals have their bye Friday and will visit Silsbee next Tuesday.

Silsbee (18-8, 6-1) defeated Orangefield (13-10, 2-5) 66-36 Tuesday.

LC-M boys 52, Livingston 36

LIVINGSTON — Erupting on a 18-4 run in the third period, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears got past the Livingston Lions 52-36 in District 20-4A play at Lion Gym Tuesday night.

The Lions (5-21, 0-8) had no answer for LC-M (17-10, 6-2) post Blake Fuss, who torched them for 19 points and 16 rebounds.

Andrew Daspit and Taylor Peveto scored nine points apiece for the Bears while Trumaine Elmore scored eight and Jace Robertson added six.

Xavier Hutchison led the Lions with eight points.

The Bears return home Friday to host Port Neches-Groves.

WO-S boys 85, H-F 52

HAMSHIRE — The first-place West Orange-Stark Mustangs placed four players in double figures and had no problems dismantling the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns 85-52 in District 21-3A play at Longhorn Gym.

Post Ty Thompson helped power the Mustangs (20-7, 7-0), scoring 16 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing off four assists.

Brandon Joubert also scored 16 points. Laquarious Paige contributed 15 points, six steals and five assists while Deionte Thompson filtered in 14 points and snared six boards.

H-F fell to 8-17 overall, 2-5 in 21-3A play.

The Mustangs will host Hardin-Jefferson (25-4, 4-2) Friday.
