(Continued)

LITTLE CYPRESS —

Chen and Nimitz tallied six points apiece. The Lady Bears also finished with a 45-36 rebounding edge. Posts Sheridan Rogers and Tori Thompson combined for 16 boards, each grabbing eight.

The rebounding edge certainly helped the Lady Bears, who were also turnover-prone on the night by committing 29 of them while Nederland had just 19.

Beard led the Lady Bulldogs with nine rebounds before fouling out in overtime. Kayla Britt notched 11 points and eight rebounds before fouling out. Guard Kinsey Miller had eight points and seven boards before fouling out while fellow guard Jalie Bell also had eight points.

The Lady Bears led 8-7 at the end of the first period and 17-16 at intermission as neither team could find their footing offensively in the first 16 minutes.

The Lady Bears will travel to first-place and state-ranked Beaumont Ozen Friday and will host Lumberton next Tuesday, which could decide the fourth and final playoff berth in 20-4A. LC-M is now up a game on both Nederland and Lumberton (4-8), which fell to second-place Vidor (25-6, 10-2) 71-55 Tuesday.

Lumberton hosts Livingston before visiting LC-M Tuesday while Nederland visits Port Neches-Groves Friday before hosting Ozen next Tuesday.
