HOOP WRAP: Bears wake up, blast Livingston 61-38



Megan Burton sparked the balanced Lady Bobcats (14-10, 6-3) with 19 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Kacey LeBlanc chimed in with 14 points and a whopping seven steals. Morgan Moss had nine points and five rebounds. Paige Perales had six points while Carley Choate contributed four points, four rebounds and four steals.

Haynes and Martin led the Lady Tigers (0-8 in district) with 12 points apiece.

The Lady Bobcats return home Friday in a showdown with the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns.


Buna (girls) 46, BC 31

BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals couldn’t overcome rough second and third quarters as they fell to the Buna Lady Cougars 46-31 in District 21-3A action at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Cardinals (12-15, 3-6) led 10-9 at the end of the first period but trailed 21-12 at halftime as the Lady Cougars (7-1 in district) went on a 12-2 tear.

Bridge City battled back to trim the margin to 28-25 entering the fourth but the Lady Cougars closed out the game with a 18-6 run.

Caylin Choate had 12 points and four steals for the Lady Cardinals. 

Alexus Henry had seven points, seven rebounds and four steals. Bailee Bacon had six points while Kasey Frederick had seven rebounds and Harleigh Myers had five.

Madison Franklin paced the Lady Cougars with 22 points and Jaycee Dams added 12.

The Lady Cardinals have a bye Friday and will return to action Tuesday when they visit Silsbee.

In other 21-3A action Tuesday, the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns (4-4 in district) downed the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs (2-7 in district) 61-51.

In a 20-4A contest, the Lady Pirates defeated the Nederland Bulldogs 55-41 in Vidor.
