HOOP WRAP: Bears wake up, blast Livingston 61-38



The Bears outscored the Lions 23-16 in the last stanza.

Peveto used his patented move to the basket to score 11 points in the quarter while Robertson had five.

Green scored eight points for the Lions in the fourth, including two three-pointers.

LC-M dominated the Lions on the boards, outrebounding them 30-19.

Peveto and Trumaine Elmore had five rebounds apiece behind Wendt’s seven.

Both teams finished with 20 turnovers.

The Bears drained 22-of-30 from the free-throw line while the Lions were just 4-of-7.

The Bears will head to Port Neches-Groves Friday to take on the Indians.

In other 20-4A action Tuesday Beaumont Ozen (15-9, 7-1) pulled into a first-place tie by defeating Beaumont Central (20-5, 7-1) 61-49 in overtime. Nederland (20-8, 6-2) defeated Vidor (5-18, 0-8) 80-41 and Lumberton (10-19, 4-4) toppled Port Neches-Groves (9-15, 4-4) 52-47.


WO-S 85, H-F 62

WEST ORANGE — Laquarious Paige paced four West Orange-Stark players in double figures with 23 points as the Mustangs breezed to a 85-62 victory over the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns Tuesday night in District 21-3A action at Mustang Gym.

Brandon Joubert and Chase Rutledge tallied 17 points apiece for the Mustangs (17-9, 6-1) while Tyrant Thompson added 10.

The Longhorns slipped to 9-16 overall, 2-5 in district.

WO-S, in second-place in the 21-3A standings, hit the road Saturday for a showdown with third-place Hardin-Jefferson (26-3, 4-2) in Sour Lake.


Silsbee 65, OF 46

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats battled first-place Silsbee hard in District 21-3A action at Bobcat Gym Tuesday night but the Tigers were able to pull away for a 65-46 victory.

The Tigers (19-7, 7-0) led the hard-nosed Bobcats (14-9, 3-4) 27-25 at intermission but went on a 38-21 tear in the second half.

Cody Angelle led the Bobcat attack with 15 points while Tyler Ibeck scored nine and Tanner Holland added eight.

The Bobcats will visit Hamshire-Fannett Friday to take on the Longhorns.


OF (girls) 64, Silsbee 43

SILSBEE — Using a total team effort, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats ripped the Silsbee Lady Tigers 64-43 in District 21-3A play at Tiger Gym Tuesday night.
