BUNA — West Orange-Stark’s magical 2014 campaign continues to reach nice milestones as Coach Shea Landry’s “crew” picked up win No. 20 by downing the Buna Cougars 2-0 Friday night.

The Mustangs (20-4, 7-3) received a stellar effort from pitcher Grant Anderson to subdue the Cougars (3-8 in district).

Anderson tossed seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out 10 Cougars in the process.

The Cougars got a nice effort from pitcher Joe Clark but the Mustangs were finally able to nab a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.

Jacob Hryhorchuk, who had two of the six WO-S hits on the night, had a RBI single in the inning and Eric Guillory also had a RBI single.

WO-S is now tied with Silsbee for the second-place spot in 21-3A with two games remaining.

“It’s been a great run and the kids have responded in tight situations almost all year long and 20 wins is special for us,” said Landry. “Grant was amazing on the mound again and we got some timely hits when it counted.”

The Mustangs will get prep for the postseason next week as they finish up the 21-3A schedule at home Tuesday against Bridge City and on the road at Silsbee Friday.
