Roddy with two outs in the seventh gave up his first hit of the night, a Texas leaguer to center field. It would be the only hit given up by Roddy who also struck out 11 batters. Christian Wendt got the final out of the game.
James Swan again led the Bears at the plate by going 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and two runs scored while Jace Robertson finished with a hit and a RBI.
LC-M is now 6-5 in District 20-4A with a key matchup in Lumberton this Friday against the 7-4 Raiders.
Livingston and Vidor are both 5-6 behind the Bears. Livingston defeated Lumberton 7-1 on Tuesday while Vidor downed Beaumont Central 17-1.
Bridge City 18, Hamshire-Fannett 0
HAMSHIRE - Tuesday night is a night a lot of Bridge City Cardinals baseball fans and players have been waiting for this year.
The Cardinals, who lost their last game on Saturday to Silsbee, exploded for 18 runs Tuesday to down Hamshire-Fannett 18-0.
Bridge City was up 8-0 going into the fifth when the Cardinals scored 10 runs to end the game after the Longhorns finished their time at the plate in the bottom of the fifth.
Keaton Langston stayed hot at the platae by going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Bryce Sampere was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI while Chase Shugart was 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI. Hayden Guidry led the Cardinals with three RBI and a run scored. Hunter Uzzle was 1-for-2 with two runs, a RBI and two walks. Uzzle led the game off with a home run in the top of the first inning. Preston Pittman hit a RBI double.
Blaine Huff, Jonah Watts and Sage Elmore each scored twice while Blake Pruett and Collin Gros each scored a run.
Pittman pitched four innings and gave up only one hit and struck out eight batters with only two walks. Bryce McFarland pitched the last inning and gave up one hit and struck out two batters.
Bridge City and Silsbee are both 8-1 in District 21-3A play.
The Cardinals will be on the road Friday with a game in Hardin-Jefferson and play next Monday at home against West Orange-Stark.
