WEST ORANGE — The Mustangs have a new coach on the court.

Tramaine Hancock was officially hired Monday night to become to the next head coach of the West Orange-Stark High School boys basketball program. Hancock previously coached at East Chambers.

Hancock’s hiring is a homecoming of sorts.

“Tramaine worked for us three years ago as an assistant,” said Cornel Thompson, athletic director of the West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District. “He is the right guy to guide our team and our program.”

Monday’s official hiring followed several weeks of speculation and rumors that Hancock could possibly be the Mustangs next basketball coach.

“We lost a good person and a good coach in Jason (Wilkins),” Thompson said. “But we got another one in Tramaine too.”
