SUGAR LAND, Texas — A season of challenges, accomplishments and success came to its conclusion this past weekend for two area swim teams.

The Vidor Pirates and Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears swim teams traveled to the Don Cook Natatorium of the Fort Bend Independent School District in Sugar Land this past Friday and Saturday for the UIL Region 6 - 4A Championship Swim Meet as the two teams competed in their final competition of the year.

A weekend of big expectations for the Pirates swim team fell short for a myriad of reasons, but the boys team still managed to build on its most successful year ever. Hunter Heidleberg, one of several freshmen on the Pirates swim team, placed 14th in the boys 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.96.

In the girls 100 yard freestyle, LC-M Ivy Casteel led the way with an 11th place finish in 1:03.41, while Hannah Odom of Vidor placed 14th in 1:05.07 approximately five minutes after swimming in the girls 100 yard butterfly.
