WO-S fends off LC-M to win Bayou Classic

BRIDGE CITY —

Orangefield bounced back later to turn back the Australian Varsity 46-42.

Carl Wiley tallied 11 points and grabbed eight boards for the Bobcats. Shores contributed 11 points and five rebounds while Carmichael Wiley added seven points. Wearne led the Aussies with 11 points.

The Bridge City Cardinals dropped a pair of games. They fell to Galveston Ball 66-63 in their first game of the day despite placing four players in double figures.

Adrian Schubarth led the Cardinals with 16 points. Alex Bingham had 13 points while Sampere had 12 and Cervenka added 11. Tolen Avery tallied a game-high 26 points for Ball.

The Cardinals dropped a 65-53 decision to Liberty in the last game of the day.

Schubarth pumped in 18 points for Bridge City while Cevenka chimed in with 10. Joe Ward led Liberty with 24 points.

In other games at the tournament Thursday, Galveston Ball topped Liberty 72-55; New Caney Porter downed Vidor 57-43; Port Neches-Groves topped Corsicana 64-58 and also downed the Australian JV Team 58-37.
