BRIDGE CITY —
History was made Friday night at Larry B. Ward Stadium as the Bridge City Cardinals dispatched of their District 21-3A rival Orangefield Bobcats.
The Cardinals 24-13 win over the Bobcats sealed up the third place spot for Bridge City. It is the first time in the team’s history the Cardinals will head to the playoffs for four consecutive years.
Bridge City improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in league play. Orangefield ended its season 5-4 and 3-3 in the district standings under first-year coach Josh Smalley whose team surpassed expectations by controlling its own destiny with one game left.
Friday night though belonged to the home team Cardinals.
