LC-M, OF golfers fare well at district

BEAUMONT Both the Nederland boys and girls golf teams took home district titles at the District 22-4A Golf Championships held at Brentwood Country Club Tuesday.

The Nederland boys won the title with a two-round score of 654. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville boys will go to regionals as well as the Bears fired a score of 661 to nip third-place Port Neches-Groves (661). Lumberton (693) was fourth followed by the LC-M ‘B’ Team (720), Dayton (742), Vidor ‘A’ (750) and Vidor ‘B’ (819).

PN-G’s Trent Boudin was top medalist with a two-day score of 148, including a 73 on Tuesday. LC-M’s Zane Caillier was second medalist with a 156. He was followed by teammates Zack Leggett (163), Derek George (168), Ian Davenport *(181) and Casey Toohey (188).

Chris Hodge led the LC-M ‘B’ Team with a 166 followed by Steve Green (178), Landon Woodard (182), Colby Burnett (194) and Jason Hsu (230).

The Lady Bulldogs won with a team score of 873. Vidor was second with a 914, led by top medalist Sarah St. John, who had a 179, including an 85 on Tuesday. PN-G (926) was third followed by LC-M (927) and PN-G ‘B’ (1,027).

Nocona Burton led the Lady Bears with a 196 followed by teammates Kinsey Staudt (235), Amber Helm (244), Katherline Leggett (252) and Maggie Morris (264).

Bobcat golf

WILDWOOD — Both the Orangefield boys and girls golf squads placed second in the team standings at Wildwood Country Club in the District 21-3A Golf Championships to advance to the Class 3A Region III Tournament.

The Lady Bobcats fired a two-day score of 929 to finish second behind Hardin-Jefferson (833).

Lady Bobcat Natalie McLane claimed the 21-3A individual title again by firing a two-day score of 159. She was followed by teammates Jessica Worthy (249), Olivia Wagner (260), Morgan Shaw (261) and Jessica Weldon (264). Medalist Carly Rucker finished with a 255.

The Bobcat boys shot a 718 to finish second behind Hardin-Jefferson (633). The H-J ‘B’ Team was third with a 721.

Garrett Granger led the Bobcats with a 171 followed by Chase Angelle (180), Tyler Angelle (180), Shawn Neweel (188) and Aaron Riddick (198).
