ALVIN —
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Swim Team wrapped up the 2007-08 regular swim season Saturday with solid finishes at the Alvin Classic.
Thirty-one teams participated in the event including teams from LC-M, Nederland, Beaumont Ozen, Beaumont West Brook, Houston Clear Lake, Deer Park, Pasadena Memorial, Pasadena Dobie, Bay City, Friendswood and League City Clear Creek.
Coach Bonnie Dorman’s swimmers fared quite well but freshman Alex Dorman was definitely the highlight. The ninth grader swam two personal-best times in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles events, setting a new school mark in the process in the 500.
Other highlights of the meet included two top 10 finishes by senior Brittney Dorman, who scored 12 points for the squad, and freshman Cassey Brown, who swam a personal-best time in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Bear squad will travel to Nederland’s Central Middle School Thursday for the District 21-4A Swim Championships with the meet starting at 5 p.m.
