Zoning changes possible for on Simmons Drive

ORANGE — Public hearings for proposed plans for the Monterrey, Fairway, 23rd Streets as well as for a request to rezone 122.81 acre tract on Simmons Drive, east of the Navy Park Subdivision, from a commercial zone to an industrial zone are on the agenda for the City of Orange Planing and Zoning Commission and City Council Meeting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Orange Public Library Annex, 220 North 5th Street.

The 122.81 tract of land is currently owned by Ron Mafrige. William Boiter is requesting the zoning change. The request for the zoning change does not include 400 feet of the east right-of-way line of Simmons Drive.

A public hearing for amendments for sign regulations for the city will also be held as for the criteria for manufactured home placement. The ordinance concerns requiring any manufactured home to be less than 15 years old at the time of placement application date.

Each case will be decided on after the completion of the public hearings during the work session of the meeting.
