Thibodeaux will not seek 6th term

ORANGE — County Judge Carl Thibodeaux will not seek reelection for what would have been his sixth term.

“There has been a lot of speculation if I would run and for which party,” Thibodeaux said during Commissioners Court on Monday. “I will not be running for either party.”

Thibodeaux started the announcement saying he hoped to get through it without becoming too emotional.

“I have taken a lot of pounding, criticism and compliments in this position. It all goes together,” Thibodeaux said. “I did not want to, but I have to do this. I can no longer take it physically or mentally.”

Thibodeaux also said he would not make any more statements or questions on the subject after making the announcement.

John Dubose, announce his for the position of Orange County Judge later the same day. Dubose has over 20 years of public service starting as a councilman for Bridge City, Mayor, and for twelve years served as Commissioner for Orange County Pct. 3.  During that service as commissioner, Dubose served as Judge Pro Tem for ten of those years.
