Earl Thomas III is kicking off his Guardian Angel Foundation 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Thursday at Granger Chevrolet located at 2611 MacArthur Drive in West Orange. West Orange Mayor Roy McDonald will present Thomas with a proclamation declaring Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 as Earl Thomas III Day in West Orange.
“He has done so much for the community,” City Secretary Theresa Van Meter said. “He has given back so much.”
In other business during the Monday evening meeting, the council approved continuing the Juvenile Curfew Ordinance originally adopted in 2005.
The ordinance states curfew hours for minors are between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday - Thursday. The hours are 12 Midnight and 6 a.m. for Friday and Saturday. The ordinance in it’s entirety are at the City of West Orange website under ordinances.
“We use the ordinance as a tool for juveniles out during those hours,” West Orange Chief of Police Michael Stelly said. “It is a way to control those juveniles out trying to create mischief.”
The council also approved a Memorandum of Understanding and a resolution of support regarding the Whispering Oaks development.
