Special to The Leader

U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas 8th District), Ranking Member on the Trade Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued a statement Wednesday supporting the Administration’s decision to file a World Trade Organization case against China for unfair trade practices.
“It’s critical that we enforce our trade laws, and when another country is unfairly protecting its own industry at the expense of U.S. workers, we need to take action,” said Brady. “I applaud the U.S. Trade Representative for filing this case, and urge a quick resolution to the dispute. I hope that the Administration will complement this action with other trade policies to expand export markets and level the playing field for U.S. businesses and workers, such as passage of free trade agreements.”
China has been blocking exports of raw materials that are used by U.S. steel, aluminum, and chemical makers, actions that the United States believes are inconsistent with China’s commitments at the World Trade Organization.
