Congressman Brady looking for baseball MVP

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Instead of the sound of a gavel striking a podium, dozens of members of Congress hope to hear the crack of bats sending baseballs flying on Wednesday night. That's when a true partisan showdown – the 48th Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game – will take over Nationals' Stadium as the Democrats face the Republicans in a Capitol Hill tradition that started in 1909. .

U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands), a two-time MVP who took home the honors in last year’s win, will play second base and leadoff hitter for the GOP who have won 11 of the last 12 games – and seven straight.

He is wearing the uniform of the Lone Star College System which boasts 50,000 students on five campuses throughout the Houston region. The uniform was specially designed for the 100th Anniversary of the game.

“If global warming doesn’t cancel the game, we expect a spirited contest”, says Brady, who acknowledges the GOP are underdogs this year. “The Democrats have loaded up with good young players, but us veterans still have a few tricks up our sleeve…..we hope.”

The game raises more than $100,000 for local literacy and youth charities.
