LU prepares for new school year

Lamar University will open the new academic year with a reception and convocation for faculty and staff Wednesday. Classes begin the following Monday.

Faculty and staff will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Studio Theatre for an opening reception. The fall convocation begins at 10 a.m. in the University Theatre.

Lamar President James Simmons will address faculty and staff, outlining goals and plans for the 2008-2009 academic year in his annual “state-of-the-university” speech.

New staff and faculty members will be introduced.
