Area company makes Ike relief donation to Red Cross

Rarely does a night of live music help those affected by a natural disaster like Hurricane Ike. But Shon Hodgkinson of Coondog Concerts and Events presented a check to the American Red Cross for over $2,000 that was raised during a silent auction of autographed music memorabilia.

“One of the most important things we can do is reach out to the local communities and help in any way that we can,” Hodgkinson said. “And you can’t find an organization better to work with than the American Red Cross.”

Proceeds collected from the silent auction will benefit the Beaumont Chapter and the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“This was our first effort to raise money for the charity with a silent auction of music memorabilia,” Hodgkinson added. “It was well received and will be something we will make bigger and better next year.”

Guests at the Brent Coon and Associates holiday concert, which was held on Dec. 12 at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston, were able to bid on limited edition memorabilia including: a signed Los Lonely Boys guitar and poster, a framed poster signed by Korn, an autographed Cymbal from Vince Neil of Motley Crue and Bret Michaels of Poison, a framed poster autographed by the Commodores, and many more one of a kind items.
