Benefit to cover final expenses of local musician

ORANGE — A benefit to assist with the final expenses of a local musician laid to rest last fall will take place this Saturday.

A benefit to assist with the final funeral expenses of Kurt Fontenot will be held from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, July 13, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall located at 5303 N. 16th St. in Orange. Fontenot died on Nov. 1, 2012 after a blood clot entered his heart. He was 47 years old.

Fontenot, a resident of Orange, played music for many years and was a founding member of the Sabine River Band, according to Angel Sides of Houston.

Admission is $5 at the door and live music will be provided throughout the event by Three Legged Dawg and CBGB. Barbecue brisket plates will be available for purchase as well.

The fundraiser will also include a silent auction, as well as a live auction. Various items will be open for bidding, including a four-pack of tickets to the Houston Dynamos, a propane gas grill, handmade crafts and much more.
