This Week in Local Music History

ORANGE — The fall concert tour trail is a busy one across the U.S., but all roads do manage to lead to Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana from time to time. Below is a list of events for the week of Oct. 9 through Oct. 15 through the years.

• Oct. 9, 2004 Thousands of rock fans turned out for Dog Jam IV at Ford Park in Beaumont featuring Puddle of Mudd, Earshot, Trapt, Dropbox, Fall as Well and more during a rain soaked event.

• Oct. 10, 1991 Country music singer Barbara Mandrell performed at the Lutcher Theater in Orange.

• Oct. 10, 1985 Night Ranger returned to Beaumont, Texas for a headlining concert as the band toured in support of its May 1985 release, “7 Wishes,” which features the hit songs “Sentimental Street,” “Four in the Morning,” and “Goodbye.” Cheap Trick opened the show.

• Oct. 10, 1981 Rock legend Jerry Lee Lewis performed at the Port Arthur Civic Center in support of his album, “Best Of Vol. 3,” which peaked at number 49 on the country music albums chart.

• Oct. 12, 2012 Country music singer Don Williams returned to Southeast Texas for his “Farewell Tour” with a showcase at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie.

• Oct. 12, 1997 Tracy Byrd performed in Beaumont in support of his October 1996 release, “Big Love,” which featured the Top 5 singles “Don’t Take Her She’s All I Got” and the title track. Also performing were country artists Kenny Chesney and David Kersh.

• Oct. 13, 2012 En Vogue arrived in Southwest Louisiana for a showcase at the Delta Downs Event Center in Vinton, La.

• Oct. 13, 2012 California alt-rock band Alien Ant Farm performed at The Gig in downtown Beaumont.

• Oct. 13, 2012 The “Now and Then Tour” arrived in Beaumont, Texas, featuring Charlie Wilson, The Gap Band, the Original Cameo Family and Rude with a concert at the Beaumont Civic Center.

• Oct. 13, 1997 Rock bands Kansas and Starship performed at Fair Park as part of the South Texas State Fair in Beaumont.
