Multiple concerts headed to SETX this spring, summer

BEAUMONT — Spring and summer look to be awfully entertaining in Southeast Texas.

Several concerts have announced this past week, including some classic names from the rock world, an up-and-coming country artist and a little bit of metal for good measure.

Don Henley, best known as a member of the Eagles, will perform a solo concert as the headlining act of the 33rd Christus St. Elizabeth Annual Gala, which will be held on Saturday, April 20 at the Beaumont Civic Center.

The black-tie fundraiser event begins at 7 p.m. with cocktails, a gourmet dinner at 8 p.m. and Henley will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. Tickets for a table of eight start at $3,000.

Henley, although best known for his role in The Eagles, has had his share of solo success with songs such as “Dirty Laundry,” “The Boys of Summer,” “All She Wants to Do is Dance,” “Sunset Grill,” “The Heart of the Matter” and more.

Visit www.christushealthfoundationsetx.org for info or to reserve a table.

Nutty Jerry’s

Nutty Jerry’s Entertainment Complex will be the site of several concerts this spring and summer, including two which have been announced recently.

The Steve Miller Band will perform at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie, Texas, on Thursday, July 11. Tickets are $65-$100 for all ages and go on sale Friday, Feb. 22 at www.nuttyjerrys.com or charge by phone at 877-643-7508.

The Steve Miller Band, which formed in 1967, found its best success in the 1970s with a string of hit songs which are still staples on rock radio to this day. Hit songs include “Take the Money and Run,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “The Joker,” “Jet Airliner” and even the 1982 MTV hit and No. 1 single, “Abracadabra.”

The band’s last studio album, “Let Your Hair Down,” was released in April 2011. The CD reached number 77 on the albums chart in the Netherlands.

Another concert headed to Nutty Jerry’s will featuring rising country music star Josh Turner.

Turner will perform at Nutty Jerry’s on Friday, April 5. Tickets are $35-$60 for all ages and are on sale now. Special guests include Holly Williams and Jody Booth.

Turner is touring in support of his June 2012 release, “Punching Bag,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Music chart and reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The CD features the hit singles “Time Is Love” and “Find Me a Baby.” However, he is probably best known for his several number one hit singles such as “Your Man,” “Would You Go with Me,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “All Over Me.”
