VIDEOS: The Band Perry, Rehab, Soilwork, Taproot headed for SETX this spring

WINNIE, Texas — Make plans to get your tickets quickly because this show will probably sell out.

The Band Perry is headed to Southeast Texas this spring for a concert on Saturday, May 4, at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie, Texas. Tickets are $35-$75 for all ages and go on sale Friday, March 1 at www.nuttyjerrys.com or order by phone at 877-643-7508. Opening the show is the Casey Donahew Band.

The Band Perry is comprised of siblings Kimberly Perry on vocals, guitar and piano; Reid Perry on bass guitar and background vocals; and Neil Perry on mandolin, drums, accordion and background vocals. The group’s climb to fame has been fast and furious as their debut album, “The Band Perry,” was released in October 2010 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard U.S. Country music chart and No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

The CD achieved platinum status behind the strength of four Top 10 singles, including No. 1 hit songs “If I Die Young” and “All Your Life,” the No. 2 hit single “You Lie” and “Postcard from Paris,” which hit number six.

The Band Perry will release its sophomore effort, “Pioneer,” which was produced by Rick Rubin, on April 2, 2013 through Republic Nashville and its debut single, “Better Dig Two,” which was released in October 2012 and reached No. 1 status as well. The second single, “Done,” is due to hit radio very soon.



The Gig

Several shows have been announced for a downtown Beaumont venue this week as well.

Georgia-based music group Rehab is returning to Southeast Texas this spring with a concert on Wednesday, May 1, at The Gig in downtown Beaumont. Tickets are $12 in advance for ages 18 and older and go on sale on Friday, March 1, at www.thegigbeaumont.com.

The band, which combines elements of Southern rock, hip-hop, country and more, is no stranger to Southeast Texas having last performed on Crockett Street in February 2011.

Rehab is best known for the hit single, the “Bartender Song (Sittin’ at a Bar)” which was released in May 2008. The group’s last studio release, “Fixtape 2,” is described as a “mixtape” of music and made to help the band’s fans “get their fix.” The CD was released in June 2012.

Michigan rock outfit Taproot will perform on Friday, April 19 at The Gig for ages 18 and older. Tickets are $13.50 in advance and go on sale Friday, March 1, online at www.thegigbeaumont.com. Tickets are $16 at the door on the day of the show. No official announcement has been made regarding opening acts at this time.

The band’s most recent album, “The Episodes,” was released in April 2012 through Victory Records and peaked at No. 33 on the U.S. Independent chart and featured the single, “No Surrender.”

For those who prefer their music a little more extreme, Swedish metal band Soilwork will make its first appearance in Southeast Texas with a concert at The Gig on Tuesday, April 23.

Tickets are $16 in advance for ages 18 and older and are on sale now. Special guests include Jeff Loomis, Blackguard, Bonded By Blood and Hatchet.

Soilwork is touring in support of its February 2013 release, “The Living Infinite,” and it’s first single “Spectrum of Eternity.”
