This Week in Local Music History (April 16 - April 22)

BEAUMONT — Take a look back at some of the great music events featuring national artists which have traveled through Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana over the years.

• April 16, 2011 Orange County native and country music star Clay Walker performed on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont as part of the Beaumont Boys Bash with Zona Jones and others.

• April 16, 2007 The Houston-based rock outfit Blue October performed on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont in support of its April 2006 release, “Foiled,” which peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

• April 17, 2012 Chevelle returned to Southeast Texas for a concert at the Ford Park Exhibit Hall as the band toured in support of its December 2011 release, “Hats Off to The Bull,” featuring the title song and the first single, “Face to the Floor.” Dead Sara and New Medicine opened the show.

• April 17, 2010 Trumpeteer Chris Botti traveled to Southeast Texas for a concert at the Lutcher Theater for the Performing Arts in Orange.

• April 17, 1984 Country music legends Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings performed a standing room only concert at the Beaumont Civic Center as the musicians toured together in support of their April 1983 duet album, “Take It to The Limit.”

• April 19, 2013 Michigan rock band Taproot performed at The Gig on Crockett Street in Beaumont. The band performed its June 2000 debut release, “Gift,” in its entirety. Special guests included Boy Hits Car and Intertwined.

• April 19, 2009 The reformed band Cold performed at Scout Bar in downtown Beaumont.

• April 19, 2008 Maryland rockers Clutch returned to Southeast Texas for a concert at Antone’s in downtown Beaumont.

• April 20, 2012 The “Motor City Madman,” Ted Nugent, returned to Southeast Texas for the second time in 12 months for a concert at Nutty Jerry’s.

• April 20, 2006 Country music star Dwight Yoakum arrived in the Golden Triangle for a concert at Wild Bill’s in Beaumont in support of his June 2005 release, “Blame the Vain.”

• April 20, 2006 Collective Soul performed at Cactus Canyon in Beaumont.

• April 21, 2011 Texas metal band Drowning Pool performed at The Gig on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont with special guests Pop Evil, Anew Revolution and Static Cycle.

• April 21, 2007 Music legend Diana Ross performed at the Beaumont Civic Center as part of the Christus St. Elizabeth annual gala.

• April 21, 1956 Music legends-to-be Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash performed at the Beaumont City Auditorium.
