Three members of one Orange family are battling cancer.
Tisha Stephens, and her sister, Misty Stephens, both in their 20’s are battling cancer. Tisha with breast cancer and Misty with rhabdomyocarcoma - cancer of the mouth, when Tisha’s daughter, “Sweet” Ellie, 2, was diagnosed with stage 4 Neroblastoma - cancer of the nervous system.
A benefit to help the family with expenses is 4 pm Sunday, September 23 at The Gig on Crockett Street. Admission is $10.
“The event will also be outside as well,” said Paul Uresti, a friend of the family. “There is something for everyone, including kids.”
Live bands, inflatable and face painting will be available.
Raffle tickets for a Yeti Cooler, Port-A-Cool, a Keratin Treatment, Mani/Pedi, and Eyelash Extensions will be on sale during the event. The drawing will be on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
“So many items have been offered for the raffle,” Uresti said. “Door prizes are a possibility.”
Tisha Stephens posted on the Sweet Ellie Benefit Facebook page, “Doctors informed us that Ellie will be having surgery within the next two weeks. They said that the tumor is small enough to be removed. The doctor said they will remove the larger part of the tumor and leave the tumor that is going up her spine. She will continue her chemo treatments and also radiation to get the rest of the tumor that cannot be removed because of the location.”
