BEAUMONT — It is time to “power” up Southeast Texas because metal outfit Powerman 5000 returns this spring.

American rock outfit Powerman 5000 returns to the Golden Triangle this spring with a concert on Wednesday, April 23 at The Gig in downtown Beaumont. Advanced tickets are $15 and go on sale Friday, March 14 at www.thegigbeaumont.com.

Powerman 5000 formed in 1991 and features vocalist Spider One, who just happens to be the younger brother of Rob Zombie. Powerman 5000 has performed in downtown Beaumont before and delivered energetic concerts each time.

The group’s last studio effort, “Copies, Clones and Replicants,” was released in July 2011 and featured a variety of remakes such as “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, “Jump” by Van Halen, “Whip It” by Devo, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash, “Devil Inside” by INXS and more.

The band is reportedly in the midst of recording its next album, its eighth album, to be released sometime this year.
