This Week in Local Music History

ORANGE — The pre-holiday season still has been a great time for live music and below is a list of national acts which have performed throughout the region during the week of Nov. 6 - Nov. 12.

• Nov. 6, 2010 Miranda Lambert performed inside Ford Arena in Beaumont to a near capacity crowd as she toured in support of her September 2009 release, “Revolution,” which features the singles “White Liar,” “The House That Built Me,” and more. Special guests included Eric Church and Josh Kelley.

• Nov. 7, 2008 Saliva performed at Scout Bar in downtown Beaumont in support of its forthcoming December release “Cinco Diablo.” Special guests included Drowning Pool and Tantric.

• Nov. 7, 1975 Rock band KISS performed inside McDonald Gym at Lamar University with special guest Mott the Hoople. The band had reason to celebrate as its career defining album “Alive!” was certified gold this same day.

• Nov. 9, 2004 Singer and actress Cher performed a sold out concert at Ford Arena in Beaumont. This was the first concert to officially be declared a sell out at the venue.

• Nov. 9, 1992 Country music star Garth Brooks performed at the Beaumont Civic Center in support of his fourth album, “The Chase,” which was released in September 1992 and features the number one singles “That Summer” and “Somewhere Other Than The Night.”

• Nov. 10, 2004 Willie Nelson performed at the Lake Charles Civic Center in support of his October release, “It Always Will Be,” which peaked at No. 75 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

• Nov. 10, 2003 Cheap Trick performed inside the Dixie Dancehall on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont in support of June 2003 release, “Special One.” The CD only charted for one week at number 128 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

• Nov. 10, 1976 Country music legend Johnny Cash performed at the Beaumont City Auditorium in support of his May 1976 release, “One Piece at a Time,” his 53rd album, featuring the No. 1 single of the same name.
