Vince Neil concert moves indoors to Ford Arena

BEAUMONT — The upcoming Vince Neil rock concert at Ford Park is moving indoors.

The forthcoming concert featuring Vince Neil, the vocalist for legendary rock act Motley Crue, was originally scheduled for Ford Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 17, but the event has been moved across the parking lot to Ford Arena now.

“It’s really about the weather,” said Linda Waggoner, Ford Park marketing director. “After two shows this summer with inclement weather, and the brutal August heat already here, we thought it best to take the weather out of the equation to have a successful show.”

Along with Neil, special guests include rock bands Great White and Slaughter. Tickets are $18.50 - $38.50 at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Ford Park box office, H.E.B. on Dowlen Road in Beaumont, the Beaumont Civic Center and Lake Charles Civic Center. Tickets are also available at www.ticketmaster.com and charge by phone at 800-745-3000. The doors open at 5 p.m. on the day of the show.

Neil’s last album, “Tattoo and Tequila,” was released in June 2010. The CD peaked at number 57 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and covers an array of artists through the years which have inspired and influenced Neil. Songs included on the disc are “Viva Las Vegas” by Elvis Presley, “Another Piece of Meat” originally by the Scorpions, “Who’ll Stop the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival and “Bitch is Back” by Elton John.

Neil has several notable solo songs, such as “Sister of Pain,” “You’re Invited (But Your Friend Can’t Come)” and “Skylar’s Song,” but is best known for singing on Crue hits like “Shout at the Devil,” “Girls, Girls, Girls” “Kickstart My Heart,” and “Saints of Los Angeles” among others.

Great White is equally as well known for its hit songs during the MTV-era, including “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Save All Your Love,” “Lady Red Light” and “Call It Rock and Roll,” among others.

Slaughter is best known for its early material, including its smash debut which spawned the MTV hits “Up All Night,” “Fly to the Angels” and “Mad About You.”
