LAKE CHARLES, La. —
The “Party by the Pool” concert series is getting a dose of ’80s metal this summer.
Rock outfit Ratt, which once ruled the Sunset Strip in L.A. during the 1980’s, will perform on Thursday, Aug. 22, at L’Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, La. as part of the summer “Party by the Pool” concert series, which is held each Thursday night. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets for $10 for ages 21 and older only.
The group features most of its original lineup, including vocalist, Stephen Pearcy; guitarist, Warren DeMartini; drummer, Bobby Blotzer; and bassist, Juan Crucier. Guitarist Robin Crosby, who announced he was HIV Positive in 2001, died of a heroin overdose in 2002. Carlos Cavaza, formerly of Quiet Riot, joined Ratt in 2008.
The band is best known for its string of hit songs and multi-platinum albums during the 1980’s, including songs such as “Round and Round,” “Wanted Man,” “Back for More,” “You’re in Love,” “Lay it Down,” “Way Cool Jr.,” “Dance” and others.
Ratt is reported to be in the pre-production stages of its next studio album. The band’s previous effort, “Infestation,” was released in April 2010 and peaked at number 30 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The weekly “Party by the Pool” concert series continues this week and features many nationally recognized and regional acts. Artists scheduled to perform include Everclear, Live, Filter and Sponge on July 11, Prince tribute act Purple Reign on July 18, 311 on July 25, Flamethrowers on Aug. 1, Buckcherry on Aug. 8, Fuel, Hoobastank and Alien Ant Farm on Aug. 15, Ratt on Aug. 22 and the series concludes with The Cult on Aug. 29.
