BEAUMONT — English singer Morrissey is headed back to Beaumont.

Less than a month after announcing the postponement of his fall tour, Morrissey has announced a new 32-date trek across the United States in early 2013 which includes many of the originally postponed cities, including Beaumont, Texas. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets for $42.50 - $55 each. All previously purchased tickets for the originally scheduled Dec. 1 showcase will be honored at the newly rescheduled date on Feb. 16, 2013, at the Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont.

Morrissey will perform greatest hits from his legendary catalog as well as new unreleased songs, according to a press release. Kristeen Young will serve as the opening act throughout the tour.

Morrissey’s fall tour was to include 33 tourdates across the U.S. and began Oct. 5 in Boston, Mass. The tour was to conclude on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Atlantic City, N.J. prior to last month’s announcement.

Morrissey postponed his fall tour due to an illness with his mother which required her to be hospitalized.

Morrissey, whose name is actually Steven Patrick Morrissey, is a well known English singer and lyricist whose career began in the 1970’s punk scene where he formed the alternative rock band The Smiths with guitarist Johnny Marr, in 1982. The band released its debut self-titled album in February 1984, which peaked and number two on the UK charts and remained on the charts for 33 weeks.

His solo career has been nothing short of stellar, as critics and fans alike declare him to be one of the greatest lyricists in the world. The BBC has even referred to him as “one of the most influential figures in the history of British pop” and “Rolling Stone” magazine named his as one of the greatest vocalists of all time in a recent poll.

Morrissey’s last release, “Very Best of Morrissey,” was released in April 2011. It also includes a DVD featuring 11 remastered videos and rare live performances.
