Metal legends begin U.S. tour in Texas

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The wait is nearly over.

British heavy metal masters Black Sabbath are back with a new CD and a full scale U.S. tour which begins this Thursday, July 25, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, just outside of Houston. Tickets are $30 - $125 and are on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets, including www.ticketmaster.com and charge by phone at 800-745-3000.

Black Sabbath, which features original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, is touring in support of its new album, “13,” released on June 11, 2013. The disc is the band’s 19th studio album and the first full studio album to feature Osbourne as vocalist since “Never Say Die” in 1978.

The band released its debut single “God is Dead?” on April 18, 2013 to much acclaim from fans and critics alike. The group continued to build the momentum for its upcoming U.S. tour with a special appearance at the end of the season 13 finale of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” where the band was performing another new song, “End of the Beginning” on stage.

The new album “13” is also Black Sabbath’s very first release to reach number one on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart in the United States, as the CD sold approximately 155,000 copies during its first week of release according to Soundscan. The album also reached the number one position in eight other countries.

Black Sabbath, which is best known for its trademark hits such as “Iron Man,” “War Pigs,” “Paranoid,” “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath,” “Children of the Grave,” “Black Sabbath” and others, is considered by many critics and metal fans as the first definitive heavy metal band and the “godfathers” of heavy metal.
