This Week in Local Music History (April 30 - May 6)

PORT NECHES, Texas — Festival season dominates the spring and music is always a part of those events. Below is a list of concerts featuring national acts which have performed in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana through the years during the week of April 30 through May 6.

• April 30, 2011 Craig Morgan returned to Southeast Texas for a concert at Port Neches River Fest.

• April 30, 2005 Country music group Asleep at the Wheel performed as the featured attraction at the Texas BBQ Festival at Claiborne West Park in Vidor.

• April 30, 2004 Country music star Glen Campbell performed at the Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont.

• April 30, 2000 Rock legends Steppenwolf performed at the Pleasure Island Music Festival.

• May 1, 2011 Trans-Siberian Orchestra performed its very first show in Southeast Texas on the 2011 Beethoven’s Last Night Tour at Ford Arena in Beaumont.

• May 1, 2004 Country singer Tracy Lawrence returned to Southeast Texas as the featured attraction at the annual Texas BBQ Festival in Vidor.

• May 3, 2013 Country music singers John Conlee and Daryle Singletary performed at the Hardin County Music Festival.

• May 3, 2013 The Randy Rogers Band headlined the Port Neches Riverfest in support of its eighth release, “Trouble.”

• May 4, 2013 The Band Perry performed to a near capacity crowd at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie in support of its sophomore album, “Pioneer,” featuring the No. 1 hit single “Better Dig Two” and the single “Done.” The Casey Donahew Band opened the show.

• May 4, 2013 American Idol finalist and Woodville, Texas-native Kree Harrison performed a free “homecoming” concert at Ford Park Arena in Beaumont.

• May 4, 2013 Colt Ford performed at the Hardin County Music Festival.

• May 4, 2011 Country music legend Willie Nelson performed at the Beaumont Civic Center.

• May 4, 1975 Elvis Presley performed at the Lake Charles Civic Center in support of his new album, “Today,” due to be released the same month.

• May 5, 2011 Christian rock act Jars of Clay brought the “The Shelter” tour to the Lake Charles Civic Center.

• May 6, 2011 Country music star Jason Aldean performed at Ford Pavilion in Beaumont in support of November 2010 release, “My Kinda Party.” Special guests included Eric Church and the Jane Dear Girls. It was the fourth most attended concert in Ford Park history.
