ORANGE — Auditions will be held this week for an annual holiday musical production.

The Orange Community Players will hold auditions at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Orange Community Playhouse, 708 W. Division St. in downtown Orange for “Yuletide III.” The show will be presented Thursday, Dec. 12 through Saturday, Dec. 14.

People interested in auditioning should arrive ready to sing for solo parts in the production. All auditions are limited to two minutes. People interested parts as dancers and chorus members, but not solo roles, need to sign up upon arrival. Song choices for the audition process are asked to be Christmas songs. The auditions are open to the public for ages eight and older.

“This has really turned into a great fundraiser and yearly event for OCP,” said Paul Burch, OCP actor and director. “This year we are going to try and tweak it a little and make a theme and build the show. We want it to be a little different than the past two years.”

The first “Yuletide” event was held in December 2011 as a fundraiser for the Orange Community Players, as the organization opted not to hold its traditional fundraising event, “Broadway Fun for Funds,” earlier in the spring of 2011.

“The public is invited to audition and give it a try,” Burch added. “A lot of the OCP veterans will be part of this, but it is such a great opportunity for anyone else who wants to be part of a theater production. Variety shows, like “Yuletide,’ are much easier than a production with a script. And this will lead into our ‘Broadway Fun for Funds’ variety show next year. It’s a great way to help OCP, and it’s a great way of gathering talent.”

A “tentative” rehearsal schedule will be available at the auditions, while the “detailed” schedule will be made available following casting of “Yuletide III.” Visit www.orangecommunityplayers.com for more information.
