A lot of activities are in store for this Mother’s Day weekend and work week, so make plans now and enjoy.
OCP
The Orange Community Players concludes its two week run of “Man of La Mancha” with performances at 7:37 p.m. today and Saturday at the newly renovated Orange Community Playhouse in downtown Orange.
The musical has been well received among patrons and is entertaining from start to finish.

Capistrano
Get your dancing shoes on because two area bands will churn out the hits tonight and Saturday.
Performing tonight at the Capistrano is variety band Centerfire, while the blues rock and country sounds of the Larry Tillery Band fill the venue on Saturday.

Polo’s Lounge
If the work week has you feeling blue, or if you need to start the weekend early, then check out Polo’s Lounge as the venue now features karaoke every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.
Live music is the name of the game on Saturday, and this week’s featured act is none other than area variety band Crossfire.

Club 87
The Texas country sound of Pate Tatum and Texas Revolution returns to the Club 87 in north Orange starting at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Eagles Lodge
The Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge, located on North 28th Street in Orange, invites members of the public to attend its weekly karaoke session every Saturday night.
The lodge also is holding its monthly barbecue fundraiser today and Saturday, as the lodge continues to raise money for its building fund.
A brisket and link barbecue plate is available with potato salad and beans and trimmings for $6, while chipped beef sandwiches are $3.50 and $3.75 with potato salad.

The Vortex
This Beaumont venue has a busy weekend in store with music tonight and Saturday, and then again on Monday.
Performing tonight is Fuzion of Elements, and admission is $5 at the door.
The big show is has to be the Joe Jitsu farewell concert on Saturday.
With 10 years of collective shows under its musical belt, the band will perform one last show as several members of the band have either relocated or are moving to different areas of the state.
Joining Joe Jitsu for its last hurrah will be La Snacks and O’Doyle Rules. Ages 21 and older are welcome and admission is $5.
A special Monday night showcase has been scheduled featuring the touring antics of The Supersuckers, plus special guests We Were Wolves and The Scraps.

Changing Times
The classic rock ’n roll band Malayden returns to Changing Times this Saturday night with three sets of great music spanning four decades.

Oke Dokees
Regional artist Eric Middleton is back in Southeast Texas for a showcase at this Beaumont venue on Saturday night.
Oke Dokees, which is located on College Street, is open to ages 21 and older.
Ford Park
The Young Mens Business League, also known as the YMBL, proudly presents its annual rodeo event at Ford Arena tonight and Saturday in Beaumont.
The event, known as the YMBL Chute Out, will feature not only 40 of the top bull riders, but some of the top bulls such as Wildfire; Just A Dream; 2006 Bull of the Finals, Scene of the Crash; 2005 Bull of the Year, 2006 & 2007 Runner-up, Big Bucks; and California Dreaming.

Suga’s
The live sounds of jazz to classic rhythm and blues will fill the air this weekend at Suga’s Deep South Cuisine as two nights of great music are in store.
At 8 p.m. today, the Chester Daigle Band brings its Louisana style of music to this downtown Beaumont eatery and jazz bar, while guitarist Joe Carmouch delivers an eclectic mix of influences such as B.B. King, Carlos Santana, and Jimi Hendrix to the Suga’s stage.

Logon Cafe
Known as “The Irish Balladeer,” Danny O’Flaherty has amazed audiences with his Celtic sounds for a long time. He is back at the Logon Cafe tonight for his regular monthly performance.
Saturday night, the Logon Cafe features a double dose of blues-rock music from Stone Cold and Deja Blues.

Jefferson Theater
For everyone who was a fan of Elvis Presley, this Saturday is a chance for you to relive those memories of “The King.”
The Jefferson Theater presents Kraig Parker in “The King Lives Elvis Tribute” concert at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Parker has reportedly dazzled crowds for more than a dozen years with not only his similarity in looks to Elvis, but also with his voice, moves and stage presence right down to the scarf giveaway.

Julie Rogers Theater
The Clifton J. Ozen Magnet High School presents its 11th annual Spring Dance Concert at the Julie Rogers Theater at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday.
This group recently performed for students at Vidor Middle School and left the students and teachers in awe with their collective talent and energy.
Tickets are $7 at the door for general admission seating, and children ages 5 and under are free.

The Barking Dog
Beaumont’s newest venue, located on Pearl Street near the Crockett Street Entertainment District, is The Barking Dog, and if you like music with a message, then swing by this venue and hear what it’s all about.
Acts scheduled to perform include Jonathan Stark, Taylor Briggs and more, and admission is $3 for all ages.
Also, on Tuesday night, the establishment invites guests and local musicians to participate in open mic night, which is free to attend.

Antone’s
It’s time for Texas country as Stoney LaRue and his band return to Southeast Texas for a performance tonight at Antone’s.
Admission is $15 at the door and ages 18 and older are welcome.
If you like to dance, then make plans for Salsa on Saturday complete with dance lessons and live music from a regional Salsa act.

Texas Star Bar
Just because the music is acoustic doesn’t mean you cannot have a party.
Every Saturday inside the Texas Star Bar, local and regional artists dish out the tunes and the good times for free for ages 21 and older. This week’s live entertainment is provided by Kris Harper.
Whiskey River
Whether you enjoy Cajun or country music, Whiskey River has two shows which should offer you plenty of each.
Tonight, Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns perform inside the Beaumont venue for ages 18 and older. Admission is $10 at the door.
A special Thursday night showcase features Texas country artist Kevin Fowler, who is back in Beaumont to make up a show which has been rescheduled from March.
Advance tickets are on sale for $12, and will also be available for $15 at door on the night of the show.

Woody’s
One of the best trio’s you can see in Southeast Texas has to be the Aaron Williams Band, which just happens to be performing tonight at Woody’s Bar and Grill in Mid-County.
This group specializes in blues rock music and you will not be disappointed with the sound or the song selection.

Dylan’s
If you are looking for a fun night out with your friends, then check out Dylan’s this weekend as two great bands are scheduled.
The Top 40 sounds of Soul Vacation dominate the stage tonight, while the Texas rock and Louisiana blues of Onofatman are on tap Saturday.

Cowboy Red’s
Live music has taken hold of Cowboy Red’s in Nederland, and tonight’s featured performer is the Jamie Talbert Band which will dish out a big serving of Texas country, while John Thibodeaux performs a bit more of traditional country music on Saturday.
Port Neches KC Hall
A great all ages rock concert takes place tonight at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Port Neches. If you like your music loud, fast and energetic, then this is the concert for you.
Area rock bands Glory Glory, This is Heresy and Common Grey are performing beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.
Texas Longhorn Club
One of the greatest southern rock bands of all time has to be Molly Hatchet, and this blast from past is back in the region with a showcase at the Texas Longhorn tonight.
Formed in the mid-1970s, the band released its first album in 1978 and has not looked back since. The six piece outfit is touring in support of its new DVD, “Flirtin' with Disaster Live,” which was released in June 2007.

Orange VFW
