The festival season continues its 2008 run as the Texas Bar-B-Q Festival begins today, while the current season at the Lutcher Theater comes to an end today.
Texas Bar-B-Q Fest
If you enjoy the atmosphere of community festivals, then the Texas Bar-B-Q Festival at Claiborne West Park in Vidor is not to be missed.
Not only does the festival offer some of the best food in the area, it also offers plenty of great activities, such as the classic car show, horse shoe and washer board tournaments, carnival rides, games and loads of live music.
Performing at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. today is area country music and variety act Centerfire, while the all female classic rock group, Mustang Sally, belts out the hits from yesterday.
Saturday’s headlining attraction is country music singer, Wade Hayes, an Oklahoma native who made his big splash with his 1995 debut.
Hayes performance begins at 10:30 p.m. with opening act Ricochet hitting the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Live music throughout the day will be provided by area bands such as the Circuit Breakers, Na Na Sha, and Centerfire.
One of the newer classic rock bands on the area music circuit is Section 8, which is scheduled to perform at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $10 to enter the park and concerts today and Saturday, and just $5 on Sunday.
Lutcher Theater
Live music and tap dance bring the 2007-2008 Lutcher Theater season to a close tonight, as the Tapestry Dance Company and Eddy Hobizal Jazz Trio perform at 7:30 p.m.
This show will literally get your feet tapping as will the dancers as the program features works of current artists and legendary tap routines.
Tickets are $20, $15 and $12 at the Lutcher Theater box office.
At 6 p.m., Sunday, the amazing “Jungle” Jack Hanna, one of the world’s most famous animal experts and advocates, brings his family oriented show to Orange in conjunction with the Earth Week celebration at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.

Capistrano
It’s a No Limit weekend at the Capistrano, located in downtown Orange, as the local music group gives fans two chances to enjoy the music tonight and Saturday.
On Thursday nights, guests are invited to stop by and sing a song or two as karaoke remains one of the best ways to start the weekend early at the Capistrano.
There is never a cover charge and ages 21 and older are always welcome.
Polo’s Lounge
Crossfire, one of the area’s hottest variety acts, heads over to Orange’s newest live music venue with a showcase Saturday night for ages 21 and older.
Whether you like to boot scoot across the dance floor or shake your groove thing, this group will definitely keep you entertained, and, best of all, there is never a cover charge at Polo’s.
Karaoke is still featured every Wednesday and Friday, while area musicians are invited to attend the weekly jam night session with Twisted Saddle.

Club 87
The Jimmy Kaiser Band makes its long awaited return to this Orange County venue as the group dishes out some tasty Texas Country starting at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Admission for Saturday’s concert is $5 per person at the door, and ages 21 and older are always welcome. Call 409-746-2394
Eagles Lodge
The Fraternal Order of Eagles will a hold benefit this Saturday to help a local resident in the fight against a deadly disease.
The public is invited to attend starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Eagles Lodge, which is located at 803 N. 28th St. near Parker Lumber.
Live music will be featured from regional music group, Creole Cooking until 3 p.m., plus a live auction, cake sale, prize drawings and a brisket plates will be available with all of the trimmings you would expect.
The benefit for Wofford will continue until 7 p.m., and will then be followed by the Eagles Lodge weekly karaoke session, which is also open to the public, from 8 p.m. until midnight.

The Vortex
Look no further than The Vortex tonight as two area bands and one regional group unite for one heck of a concert.
Performing this Friday night are Sharks From Space, We Were Wolves, and The Unnamed Project for Revenge, from Austin, and ages 21 and older are invited to attend.

Changing Times
Why not be adventurous and check out two of the newest rock bands on the local music circuit as Proximity and Autovenom perform tonight at Changing Times in Beaumont.
Ages 18 and older are always welcome to attend and admission is $5 at the door, and the show is scheduled to start at approximately 9 p.m.
Autovenom made it's live, local debut earlier this month and gave a fairly good showing for its first concert. The band has a hard rock edge with just a touch of metal to allow vocalist Tara Russell’s voice to shine through.
Proximity has a bit more live experience having performed a handful of shows across Southeast Texas, but are looking to make more of an impact here in the Golden Triangle.
Madison’s
It’s a Texas Country weekend at Madison’s on Dowlen, as 9 Station Drive delivers a mix of the Texas sound with true classic rock hits, while the Kris Harper Band packs the dance floor on Saturday.
Also, a collective of area musicians join together every Tuesday night to perform as El Floppy Tacos. It’s hard to label the band’s sound, but humorous definitely fits the bill.
Admission is $5 for ages 18 and older each weekend, while Tuesday night’s show is free of charge.
Arthur’s Pub
The classic rock and classic country sounds of the Circuit Breakers rock Arthur’s Pub tonight as this Mid-County venue continues to feature quality live music acts every Friday.
Admission is charged at the door for ages 21 and older.
Dylan’s
If you like variety, then Dylan’s in Port Arthur probably has what you are looking for this weekend.
Performing tonight at this Port Arthur hot spot is area cover rock band Knotch, while Darren McGill and Texas Speedbump offer a healthy dose of Texas Country and rock on Saturday.
Also, acoustic music is featured every Tuesday night at Dylan’s and this week’s featured performer is Jimmy Kaiser.

Larry’s French Market
Not only is Larry’s French Market known for its cuisine, but also for its quality live entertainment.
This weekend’s music is provided by Dustin Ray and Southern Groove tonight, and the Cajun sounds of Chris Miller and Bayou Roots on Saturday.

Woody’s
The Mike Zito Band is back from a regional tour and has set its sights on Woody’s with a concert starting at 9 p.m. today.
Ages 21 and older are invited to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Woody’s and indulge in the sound that is the Mike Zito Band.
Crockett Street
The biggest country music concert of the year happens Saturday night as the Crockett Street Entertainment District presents the Beaumont Boys Bash featuring Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt and Zona Jones.
The Southeast Texas natives will be joined by local acts Skeeter Jones and the Beer Can Band and singer-songwriter, Britt Godwin.
The gates open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $12 in advance at all area Fast Lane convenience stores and $15 the day of the show.
The hometown celebration kicks off tonight at Antone’s with the Beaumont Boys Bash Songwriters Night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is hosted by Tracy Byrd.
Most of the songwriters are from Nashville and include Roxie Dean, Mike Geiger, Casey Bethard, as well as local songwriters Mark Nesler and Michael Buller. Admission is $20.
On Saturday evening, as part of the big concert celebration, guest who purchase a street pass will be allowed entry into most Crockett Street venues, including Antone’s where Madison Monroe is performing, and the Texas Star Bar which welcomes back area Texas country group, 9 Station Drive.
All ages are welcome to attend the concert on Crockett Street, but Antone’s is restricted to ages 18 and older, while the Texas Star Bar only allows patrons over the age of 21.
Texas Longhorn Club
One of the newest country music acts in Southeast Texas, Aimee Breaux and Southwind, makes its second appearance in eight days in the Longhorn Legends Saloon at the Texas Longhorn Entertainment Complex in Vinton, La.
Also, the twice monthly “Ring of Fire” bullriding series continues tonight at the Longhorn as cowboys compete for the custom rodeo belt buckle valued at $500.
Admission is free for women ages 21 and older, $7 for men ages 21 and older, and $10 for ages 18 to 20. Call the Texas Longhorn for details at 337-589-4618.
Coushatta Casino
Whether you are a fan of southern rock or classic country, Saturday’s show in Kinder, La. Offers both of best worlds.
The Charlie Daniels Band headlines a special evening featuring guest rockers 38 Special and country artist Shooter Jennings.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and all ages are welcome to attend. Tickets are available for $54.50, $50.50, $48.50 and $42.50 each, plus service charge, at all Ticketmaster outlets.
Orange VFW
Area variety band Crossfire continues to entertain and impress at the weekly dance and concert every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
