The festival season has truly arrived, so loosen your belt, enjoy the cuisine and the entertainment and have a great weekend and week ahead.
Mauriceville Crawfish Festival
If Mother Nature cooperates, then Mauriceville is the place to be as the 27th annual crawfish festival takes places starting today through Sunday.
The public is invited to see what one of Orange County’s best events is all about as live music, fabulous food, crafts, carnival rides and parade highlight the weekend.
Area group Kelly Joe Cordova and the Whole Shootin’ Match will are performing today from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., while Saturday’s lineup includes the Circuit Breakers at 10:30 a.m., an exhibition by the Lorna Badon School of Fine Arts at 2 p.m., Steven Breaux and Southern Twist, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Cheap Whiskey from 8 p.m. to midnight.
A battle of the bands event is scheduled for Sunday as several area modern bands rock out throughout the afternoon. Bands performing are Our Left Shoe, Uptown, The Loch, Daylight Broadcast, and Losing Ground.
Admission each day is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and children ages 12 and younger, except after 5 p.m. Saturday when admission is $5.
Capistrano
This Orange venue continues to regularly offer some of the best live music on a consistent basis in the region, and this weekend is no exception.
Music is provided by Donnie Simmons tonight, and then area variety act No Limit is Saturday’s featured attraction.
If you enjoy karaoke, then start your weekend early at the Capistrano as every Thursday night is karaoke night.
Ages 21 and older are always invited and there is never a cover charge.
Polo’s Lounge
Classic rock fans should visit Polo’s Lounge this Saturday night as area band Longtooth is back in the area for another show, and there is no excuse not to go as admission is free for ages 21 and older.
Also, karaoke has become the main entertainment outlet at Polo’s as every Wednesday and Friday night is now open to the public for karaoke.
Area musicians are invited to attend and bring their instruments to “Jam Night” every Thursday and join Twisted Saddle on stage for a little fun and music.

Laurel and The Edge bring their soulful rock sound to north Orange this weekend with a performance at Club 87 on Saturday night.

Eagles Lodge
For the second time this month, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge invites the public to attend its twice-monthly dance and concert.
This week’s entertainment is provided by area variety band, No Limit, and admission is $5 and $8 at the door.
Also, karaoke is on the schedule this Saturday night, so come out and sing a tune or two and enjoy the company at the Eagles Lodge.

Harvest Chapel
At 7 p.m., Saturday, Harvest Chapel church, located at 1305 Irving St. in West Orange, will hold an evening of country and gospel music and Christian comedy.

Vidor VFW Hall
Scott McGill and Old Dog Mac are always open to performing in a variety of venues across the Golden Triangle, and now the band converges on the VFW Hall in south Vidor this Saturday night.
Fans of classic and blues rock will enjoy every bit of what this trio has to offer.

Starting a noon on Sunday, a benefit featuring food, an auction and live entertainment will be held for James “Uncle Buck” Whitten and the festivities will last throughout the day.
Entertainment will be provided by well known musicians such as Britt Godwin, Bubba Moore, Zona Jones and more.
The Vortex
A blast from the past returns for a series of shows this weekend, and it begins tonight as the group known as Kung Fu Grip makes its first appearance in several years at The Vortex. If you are a fan of true punk music, then this group will not disappoint you.
Joining KFG in its return are Scrabble Robot and Wormdirt. Admission is $7 at the door for ages 21 and older.
The Vortex continues to offer some of the best in local and regional entertainment, and Saturday is no different as regional groups, the Pickled Punks, Bloodmoon Howlers, and Ghost Storys are performing.

Changing Times
Louisiana-based outfit Dead End Lake heads across the Sabine and Neches Rivers for a concert this Saturday night at Changing Times, located on North 11th Street in Beaumont.
Special guest act is Cheater Pipe, and ages 18 and older are welcome to attend. Admission is $5 at the door.
El Dorado
If you need a fix of hard rock and heavy metal tonight, then make your way to El Dorado, which is located at 6035 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Beaumont because the Texas based metal unit known as Element Eighty returns.
Joining the metal juggernauts is Icura Crane.

The Art Studio
Band night is back at The Art Studio, and this month’s concert is a doozy.
Area punk legends Kung Fu Grip performs for the second time in two nights, and joining this group is Misfortune 500, Fictive Kin, Cousin Phelpy and Three Men and a Mannequin.
There will also be a special fire dance performance and free toast for everyone who attends. All ages are welcome and admission is $5 at the door.
Madison’s
Fun is the name of the game at Madison’s, especially when the regional Top 40 act Soul Vacation is in town, as it is tonight.
Saturday’s live music act is the Dustin Powell Band, which is making its first appearance at this establishment.
Live acoustic music from El Floppy Tacos is scheduled every Tuesday, and karaoke is featured every Thursday with a selection of approximately 18,000 songs available.

Arthur’s
Located inside Ramada Inn near Ninth Avenue and State Highway 73, Arthur’s has long offered a variety of great music to enjoy and dance the night away.

Mid-County music lovers might want to stop by Dylan’s this weekend as two area bands potentially offer two great nights of fun.
Performing tonight is Hoosier Daddy, while Saturday’s performer is the band known as JAG.
Also, this Tuesday’s live acoustic performer is Tod Stark of Guilty, while karaoke is on tap each Wednesday evening.

The Doorway
Barely Blind continues its mission to conquer the world with one performance at a time, and the band returns home with a show at The Doorway in Port Neches tonight.
The quartet is still touring in support of its 2007 release, "The Way We Operate," and is now on the second leg of a tour headed for New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and California.
Special guests at tonight's performance are Glory Glory and State Champs.
All ages are welcome, admission is charged at the door, and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Woody’s
This Port Arthur venue has quietly established itself as one of the prime locations in Mid-County to view live music, whether it’s rock ’n roll or country.
Performing tonight is area country music and variety act, Cheap Whiskey, and ages 21 and older are welcome to experience what one of the best live acts is Southeast Texas has to offer. Admission is $5 at the door.
Family Worship Center
This Beaumont Christian venue brings back live music with its first concert this spring, and what a way to get started.
Several musical acts, such as The Blinding, Greg Hayes, formerly of Syght, Sun Standing Still and others are scheduled to perform at this free concert, and, best of all, admission is free.
All ages are welcome to attend. The FWC is located at 1170 Montrose, which is located off of College Street in Beaumont.
Antone’s
Once considered an underground band, Clutch has emerged as a big name act but still retains the loyalty of its once underground following.
The hard rock group returns to Antone’s for it’s second show in barely more than a year, and expectations are high since the last performance was nearly sold out on a week night.
The band is still touring in support of its 2007 release, “From Beale Street to Oblivion.” Special guest is Kamachatka. Ages 18 and older are welcome to attend and admission is $20 and $25 at the door.
Metal madness reigns on Crockett Street this Saturday as a trio of area sonic titans perform at Antone’s.
Headlining is the Orange County based outfit, Hardshell Case, who have remained under the musical radar for some time despite its collective pool of talent. Also appearing are Dead Men Walking and Boggdown.

Texas Star Bar
If you like to hang out with friends in a fun and festive atmosphere, then visit the Texas Star Bar on Crockett Street.
Live acoustic music is featured every Saturday night at this upstairs venue for ages 21 and older, and admission is always free.
Whiskey River
Get your dancing shoes on tonight for Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, which is making its first appearance at Whiskey River in Beaumont.

Beaumont Civic Center
A true American music icon is performing in concert this Saturday evening at the Christus St. Elizabeth annual gala.
The “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, is this year’s featured entertainer at the gala, and individual tickets are available for a whopping $375 each, while group seats and tables are available for in higher price ranges.
Fans are sure to be treated to such memorable hits like “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” “Think,” and “A Natural Woman,” and many, many more.
Cocktails are scheduled at 7 p.m., while dinner begins at 8 p.m. and the concert will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Julie Rogers Theater
A bit of Broadway comes to town as “Chicago the Musical” will be in the Golden Triangle for one performance only at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, inside the historic Julie Rogers Theater in downtown Beaumont.

At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Lamarissimo! returns to this Beaumont venue for its spring performance showcasing the talents of outstanding student and faculty artists.
Admission is free for students of Lamar University with a valid Lamar ID, while tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Single tickets are only available at the door beginning at 6:45 p.m., Thursday.

Texas Longhorn Club
Live music returns to the Longhorn Club this weekend as Amie Breaux and Southwind perform inside the Legends Sports Saloon, and, although the band specializes in country, there is sure to be enough variety to satisfy everyone.
Women ages 21 and older are admitted free, while admission is $7 at the door for all others ages 18 and older.
On Saturday, Mixed Martial Arts is back at the Texas Longhorn with the doors opening at 6 p.m. and the action beginning at 7 p.m.
Fighters from Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas, such as Jason “The Beast” Freeman of Orange, William “The Gator Wrestler” Hammond of Beaumont, Matt “Hit Man” Bodden of Nederland, Jeremy Christensen of Vidor and others will be in action Saturday night.

Delta Downs
It’s time to “Bop to You Drop” with musician and actor Rick Springfield tonight inside the event center at Delta Downs in Vinton, La.
Springfield last performed at this Louisiana venue in June 2006 and amazed the two sold-out crowds with his energy and sound.

Country music singer Tracy Lawrence returns to the region with a show Saturday night at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lake Charles.
Lawrence is still touring in support of his 2007 release, “For the Love,” which he released on his own label, Rocky Comfort.
Tickets are available at the casino and start at $20. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. for ages 21 and older only.
Orange VFW
A big week of activities awaits guests this week at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Hall in Orange starting with a monthly fish fry tonight.
VFW members and the public are invited to see what the VFW Hall is all about and enjoy some tasty food, while a special Saturday showcase is on tap featuring music from Linda Kaye and the Kool Katz beginning at 8 p.m. and admission is $5.
Bingo is open to the public on Wednesday, as is the weekly dance and concert featuring music from area variety group, Crossfire.
