The Orange Leader
The music scene is showing signs of returning to normal this week, and that is a good thing as the fall concert season really heats up starting next weekend.
However, until then, there is plenty of quality entertainment to keep you occupied.
Lutcher Theater
The first performance of the 2008-2009 Time Warner Roadrunner Kids Series begins at 9:30 a.m. today as “The Gruffalo” entertains hundreds of school age children. Another performance follows at 11:30 a.m.
These tickets usually sell quickly, so call the Lutcher Theater to confirm availability.
At 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, “The Pajama Game” opens the new season with laughs, singing and romance in this humorous musical.
Tickets are $55, $45 and $35 and can be purchased online at www.lutcher.org or 409-745-5535.
Jackie’s Partytime
The classic rock sounds of Longtooth can be heard Saturday at the recently reopened Jackie’s Partytime from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Ages 21 and older are invited to enjoy the music and there is no cover charge.
Cotton’s Cay
The John Thibodeaux Band makes its first ever appearance in Orange County tonight at Cotton’s Cay.
Admission is $5 at the door and ages 18 and older are welcome to attend. Call 409-886-9042 for more details.
Capistrano
No Limit will perform tonight and Saturday, which gives local music lovers twice the opportunity to hear the entertaining music act.
Karaoke continues to be a great activity to start your weekend early every Thursday at the Capistrano.
There is never a cover charge and ages 21 and older are welcome to attend.
Club 87
Live music is featured every Saturday night at this north Orange
and this weekend is no different. Admission for Saturday’s concert is $5 per person at the door, and ages 21 and older are always welcome.
Club 87 also invites the public to stop by and enjoy a little karaoke on Thursday, which is free of charge. Call 409-746-2394 for more information.
Eagles Lodge
Live music returns to the Eagles beginning at 8 p.m., today, as area variety band Crossfire is slated to perform.
Admission is $5 at the door and the public is welcome to attend and see what makes the Eagles such a great place.
Karaoke is open to the public every Saturday night featuring Patty Ferguson at 8 p.m. to midnight and admission is free.

Changing Times
Area hard rock band Autovenom makes its first appearance in five months with a performance at Changing Times tonight. Admission is $5 at the door.
A special, one night only reunion of the Wesley Niles Band takes place on Saturday, and, because this is such a special event, admission is free on Saturday night.
Madison’s
It’s rare when the brothers known as Jimmy and David Lee Kaiser perform on the same stage together, but that is exactly what is on tap tonight at Madison’s.
Then, on Saturday, catch the Kris Harper Band on the Madison’s stage.
Admission is $5 at the door each night and ages 18 and older are invited to attend.
If you are looking for something to do on Tuesday, then catch the music collective known as El Floppy Tacos on the patio. Admission is free.
Suga’s
The Mambo Kings have been creating high energy dance music for more than 20 years, and the band brings its brand of music to the Suga’s stage on Saturday night.

The Barking Dog
All ages are able to attend a loud and rowdy performance by Dertybird and area rockers We Were Wolves tonight at The Barking Dog in downtown Beaumont.
Admission is $5 at the door.
Woody’s
Livin’ Proof is back with its first performance of the fall season this Saturday at Woody’s in Port Arthur.
Admission is $7 at the door and ages 21 and older are welcome to come join the fun. Call 409-729-6639 for more details.
Dylan’s
Whether you enjoy the modern rock sounds of Knotch tonight or the Top 40 variety of Soul Vacation on Saturday, Dylan’s always has something good to offer music lovers on a regular basis.

Texas Longhorn Club
Easily the most entertaining non-music event this weekend has to be the return of the Half-pint Brawlers to the Texas Longhorn Club in Vinton, La. on Saturday night.
The “Gonzo Midgets” are back for some of the roughest, toughest, eye-gouging, biting, no punches pulled action you will ever want to see.

Coushatta Casino
Touring in support of his fourth album, Arkansas native Joe Nichols is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m., today, inside The Pavilion at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, La.
Best known for songs such as “The Impossible,” “What’s a Guy Gotta Do,” and “Cool to be a Fool,” Nichols is definitely a country artist on the rise.
Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets for $38.50, $28.50 and $19.50, plus service charge, and all ages are able to attend.
Orange VFW
Crossfire returns for its regular Thursday night performance at the weekly dance and concert at the VFW Hall in Orange, located on North 16th Street.
The fun begins at 7 p.m., and admission is $5 person. Call 409-886-9738 for more information.
Whiskey River
Another Thursday night concert is on tap this month at Whiskey River as Casey Donahue is slated to perform this week.
Ages 18 and older are welcome to attend, and admission is charged at the door.
