KFDM's Bill Leger killed in Louisiana wreck

BEAUMONT — reported early Saturday morning its anchor Bill Leger had been killed in a one-car wreck in Louisiana.

The website stated Leger was driving south on Louisiana 93 at about 1 p.m. when his car left the road after failing to negotiate a curve. It continued to report the vehicled then overturned after overcorrecting and the car came to a rest in the northbound lane and was struck by a nother vehicle. 

Leger was 48 and leaves behind his wife Patricia, two daughters and both his parents. He had worked at KFDM for about two decades and his Restaurant Report, which aired every Friday, became one of the station's most popular segments.

James Ware, who is a sports anchor Fox 4 in Beaumont, spoke to The Orange Leader shortly after hearing of Leger's death.

"Some of my best times in television were with Bill," Ware said. "We still talk about our favorite moment being five days on the road with Tracy Byrd in California. We also did a behind the scenes at The Price is Right and the Young and the Restless. Bill was a person who never said no when it came time to volunteering and he had a passion for life that will never be forgotten. He had a genuine love for his family and friends and I will cherish our friendship." posted a biography for the site written by Leger that says he was from Kinder, La. and graduated from LSU. 

Leger listed Hurricanes Rita and Ike and the Tracy Byrd adventure as his top stories of his career.
