— Newton's Eagles were up 22-8 in the second quarter Friday against Cameron Yoe and seemed on their way to improve to 14-0. The 14-0 mark would have put the Eagles in the Class 2A state finals.
Yoe scored the next 31 points and won 39-22 to become the team to be 14-0 while Newton headed home with a 13-1 season mark.
A blocked punt that was recovered for a Newton touchdown on the first play of the second quarter gave Newton the big lead but it would be the last time the Eagles scored.
Yoe kicked a 45-yard field goal with no time left on the clock in the first half to take a 25-22 lead at the break.
The Yoemen scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Brandon Johnson led the Eagles with 147 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown.
Yoe also eliminated Newton in 2010.
