ORANGE — The 2012 early voting turnout is on the verge of setting a new record.
A total of 16,759 ballots have been submitted through nine days of early voting on Wednesday, which places the record of 17,375 ballots submitted in the 2008 early voting period within easy reach. The record should fall on Thursday.
A total of 458 voters submitted votes Wednesday at the Orange Public Library. A total of 536 ballots were received on Tuesday at the same location. This brings the nine day total to 5,780 ballots turned in at this location.
In Vidor, 316 ballots were tallied at the Raymond Gould Community Center on Wednesday, along with 384 on Tuesday. This brings the nine day total at this location to 4,402
The Bridge City early voting locations, at the Public Works Building at 220 Nitsche, has seen a total of 3,175 ballots submitted in nine days. This includes 183 on Wednesday and 251 on Tuesday.
The First Baptist Church location in Mauriceville has a total of 1,793 ballots through nine days of early voting. 85 voters submitted ballots on Wednesday, while 114 were received on Tuesday.
Five limited ballots were received Tuesday, along with three more on Wednesday, which brings the total of limited ballots to 20 through nine days.
No military ballots or ballots submitted by registered voters outside of the United States were received on Tuesday but 21 came in on Wednesday. A total of 51 military votes have been cast through the early voting period.
Early voting continuesd from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday and concludes on Friday. Election day is 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Tuesday.
