ORANGE — Pool tournament

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 803 N. 28th St. in Orange, will host a pool tournament beginning at 8 p.m., every Friday. Prize money will given to first and second place winners. Food will be available. Call Sharon Bodin at 409-735-8662 or 409-719-7793 for info.

Saturday Adventure Series

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park Ave. in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13. “I Scream for Orchids” participants will make ice cream, and discuss edible orchids around the world. Ice cream lovers of all ages will enjoy this program RSVP is required. Call 409-670-9799.

Zydeco

Sacred Heart-St. Mary Parish in Port Arthur will have a Zydeco dance on Saturday, Oct. 13. Call the Parish at 409-985-5104 for more information.

Mt. Zion Fellowship of Churches

The Mt. Zion Fellowship of Churches will have its monthly service at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, 350 N. 37th St. inOrange. Pastor Charlot, vice president of the Mt. Zion Fellowship, will deliver the message. Everyone is welcome to attend and be Blessed.

Women’s Ministry

Gateway Christian Church, 1503 Green Ave. in Orange, and Apostle Larry Phillips Sr., will conduct a Women in Ministry Worship Service at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14. The public is invited to attend.

Latin Dance Classes

The Willard Library Branch is sponsoring a Latin dance class on Monday, Oct. 15. The classes will be held at the North End Community Center, 3580 Lucas Drive in Beaumont. The one-hour lessons will be taught by trained dancer Derek Janise. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Participants must be 21 or older. Evening with Thomas Jefferson

“An Evening with Thomas Jefferson on the American Presidency” will feature historical scholar Bill Barker, acclaimed as the nation’s best Jefferson interpreter, from 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the Dr. Richard L. Price Auditorium of the John Gray Library at Lamar University, and a student session at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Landes Auditorium of the Galloway Business Building.
