The City of Lake Charles and United Way of Southwest Louisiana are cosponsoring “Girls on F.I.R.E.” on May 4 at Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning, 1509 Enterprise Blvd.
Girl’s on F.I.R.E. (Fabulous, Independent, Respectful, Empowered) is a free workshop that inspires girls ages 10 to 15 to reach their potential. The workshop is open to the first 80 girls and their parents or guardians. Topics covered will include leadership development, teen dating violence, self-esteem, conflict resolution, communication skills, social media and decision making skills for choosing healthy dating relationships.
For girls, registration begins at 9:15 a.m. and parents/guardians must be present during registration. The sessions will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Registration for sessions for interested parents/guardians begins at 12:30 p.m. with sessions from 1:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. These sessions will cover how to start conversations with their daughter on issues she is dealing with.
Lunch will be provided for the participants.
