Spindletop Center to host Southeast Texas Mental Health Fair

PORT ARTHUR — One in four to one in five persons will experience mental health issues in a given year according to Public Relations/Marketing Spindletop Center Janna Fulbright.

Spindletop Center is hosting the Southeast Texas Mental Health Fair 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 13 at the Port Arthur Public Library, 4615 9th Avenue in Port Arthur.

“We serve four counties - Chambers, Hardin, Jefferson and Orange County,” Fulbright said Monday. “We will change the location from year to year. We choose Port Arthur for this year as the need in  Port Arthur is very great.”

The fair will educate residents about the services and resources available for those experiencing emotional crisis, mental health issues for adults as well as children, substance abuse, intellectual and developmental disabilities and physical health issues.

The event is free. For more information call 409-839-2251.

“It is very important that people call Spindletop to get help, if not Spindletop, somewhere,” Fulbright  said. “There is hope.”
