Reader’s Choice hosts book-signing event

PINEHURST — Clint Talbert, of California and former resident of Bridge City, has experienced the magic of a mystical forest.

Talbert, author of The Last Stand of Daronwy, will have a book signing and reading  of his first published book from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. April 17, at Reader’s Choice, 2407 Martin Luther King Drive in Pinehurst.

The book is a story of a young boy who lives across the street from a magical forest and must choose between this world and the magic of another dimension.

“There was a forest across from the house where I grew up,” Talbert said. “It hit me years later how precious that forest was to all us kids.”

The forest of Talbert’s youth has long been cleared.

“There was illegal dumping there, so it was filled with old tires and refrigerators,” Talbert said. “But us kids never saw that we just saw the magic.”

Talbert said he wanted to capture that experience in the book.

“It is about when magic runs into the real world,” Talbert said.

The Last Stand of Daronwy, 238 pages, is published by Barking Rain Press and is considered Young Adult Fiction. Talbert will have books available for sell at the time of the signing.
